312,000 contractors 24 investigators. They are like an ant trying to move an elephant. They need to have a serious conversation relating to restructure. Still, with the tools they have and one hand tied behind their back, the CSLB manages to get marks from this contractor.

Job performance:  POOR.
It's not apparent to me what way the CSLB is working for our benefit (Licensed Contractors).  The CSLB seems to focus entirely on bureaucracy first, homeowners second with noting left over for contractors.  The only contact I see is receipt of our renewal fees for licensing, once that occurs, we revert to invisible.  I thought that government officials work for us, the people!  They should be accountable to us, they're not.  They should have an inherent, vested interest in pursuing all unlicensed activety, but we know that's not the case.

With the current economic situation is there any guess as to what's in store for licensed contractors?  More pressure from unlicensed activety with almost non-existant enforcement.  I would ask our governor to INCREASE THE LEVELS OF ENFORCEMENT FOR UNLICENSED ACTIVITY AS PART OF THE CSLB'S CHARTER (FROM NEARLY NOTHING) OR APPOINT SOMEONE TO TAKE OVER THE CSLB WHO WILL.     Dan M

They'll converse about it maybe, but actual restructuring, no. Hopefully they'll figure out a patch before I'm too old to work.  wheelchair
